Minister Ecweru slapped during church service
Police in Amuria District have in custody a man who allegedly slapped the state Minister of Works, Musa Ecweru during a church service at St. Micheal Church on Sunday 26, June 2022.
Micheal Okurut, 39 is said to have avoided Ecweru’s security and smacked the minister’s face while he addressed the congregation.
Police confirmed Monday a case of assault is being investigated under CRB 42/202.
Last year, Ecweru is alleged to have beaten up three Anglican clergypersons for allegedly encroaching on his land located in Wera Town Council.
The assaulted clergymen included Rev. Simon Peter Olato, the Parish Priest of Wera Church of Uganda and his two lay readers; Benjamin Otasono and Simon Peter Eriku of Aten and St. John churches respectively.
