Upon her return to Uganda on Monday morning, Shamim Malende the Woman member of parliament for Kampala central vowed to continue offering free legal services to Ugandans especially those whom she said, are being detained for political reasons.
Malende was welcomed by a group of her supporters at Entebbe airport before proceeding to Kampala. She had been hospitalised for four months at Agha Khan hospital in Nairobi.
She lauded the leadership of National Unity Platform (NUP) whom she said, paid the biggest percentage of her medical bills. “My colleague Anthony Wameli did not make it back to life. The fact that I have made it back to life, is clear testimony that God has reserved me for a noble purpose, notably to serve his people,” Malende noted.
She however, intimated that she’ll be required to make regular visits to the Nairobi hospital for medical review until she fully recovers.
