The morning of Thursday June 6th has ushered us to the sorrowful news of the demise of comrade Okwai James Wasoti commonly known as ‘Kabogo’. The deceased has been our dedicated servant and majored in the security of our premises way back from our previous home in Kamwokya up to present day Makerere Kavule. He has been our dedicated member and indeed previously participated in our 2020/21 campaign trail before a life complicating ailment struck him a bit and disabled him from engaging in energy consuming activities.

He has been ill for a while but this didn’t bar him from reporting to duty even when advised to take some bed rest. He didn’t do this to defy odds but he simply wanted to demonstrate his loyalty to our legitimate cause.

Comrade Kabogo has been a regular visitor of the hospital where his doctors have been reviewing and assessing his condition. At the time of his unfortunate death, he had reportedly attended his routine health assessment.

He lives behind a wife he married a couple of years back. Details concerning his burial arrangements shall be communicated accordingly with the consent and involvement of his family members. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the friends , family and our party fraternity where the deceased has been a family member too. May his soul Rest in eternal peace.

Below are some of the tributes from our party leaders;

President Kyagulanyi Ssentamu:

With great sadness, I have learnt of the untimely passing of our comrade Okwai James Wasoti aka Kabogo who has worked with our security team since the Kyadondo Parliamentary campaign in 2017.

When we started the People Power Movement and eventually NUP, he took over as head of the gate security, a duty he has held until yesterday.

It is a very, very painful day at the National Unity Platform. May his soul rest in peace.

Secretary General David. L. Rubongoya

We woke up to the news of the passing of comrade Okwai James Wasoti commonly known as Kabogo. Kabogo served @NUP_Ug with great dedication and commitment as gate keeper at the Headquarters. Even when we constantly requested him to take some days off as a result of his sickness, he always insisted on working as soon as he felt better. We have lost a humble, disciplined comrade. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

LoP/ Party spokesperson Joel. B. Ssenyonyi
