The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Okello Oryem expressed Uganda’s readiness to strengthen existing bilateral relations with Russia.

The minister revealed the move during a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Uganda, H.E Vladen Semivolos on Wednesday morning.

Hon. Oryem urged the Russian Federation to consider expanding its importation of Ugandan agricultural products in line with the country’s focus on Economic Diplomacy.

Ambassador Semivolos conveyed his gratitude for the hospitality and cooperation that he has so far received from the government of the Republic of Uganda.

In response to Uganda’s focus on economic diplomacy, HE. Semivolos revealed the intention of the Russian Government to send several business delegations to Uganda to explore the trade and investment atmosphere.

The Russian Ambassador encouraged Uganda to take part in the second edition of the Russia Africa Summit slated for 2022.
